Common question for week 19
What is vernix?
Vernix caseosa is a white, waxy coating that forms on the baby's skin in the second trimester. It protects the skin from amniotic fluid and helps the baby slide through the birth canal later.
Every pregnancy is different. Sizes are averages, symptoms vary widely, and none of this replaces the guidance of your own provider.
